New Statewide team of Law Graduates for MacDonnells Law

MacDonnells Law is pleased to introduce its new Statewide team of Law Graduates. 

MacDonnells Law has recently appointed eight Law Graduates who are based across the Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville offices, a large intake that demonstrates the firm’s commitment to the growth of the Queensland legal industry.

The graduates are participating in the Graduate Development Program, whereby they will complete rotations through the Commercial and Litigation teams as well as Planning & Environment for those in Brisbane and Townsville.  The rotational program is completed in conjunction with studies through the College of Law.

MacDonnells Law offers its Law Graduates a strong foundation for a legal career with  hands on experience and direct guidance from senior Partners. 

MacDonnells Law recognises that its graduate development processes are a cornerstone for the firm’s growth and development. 

Gemma Ayriss, Law Graduate (Brisbane)

Gemma Ayriss joined MacDonnells Law in September last year and has already completed part of her first rotation in the Planning & Environment team, working with Partner Linda Morris.  Gemma holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland.  While completing her university studies, Gemma worked as a legal and administrative assistant to a barrister practising exclusively in the Planning and Environment jurisdiction.  Gemma has also worked for various local government divisions, as a vacation clerk.

Shannon Buglar, Law Graduate (Townsville)

Shannon Buglar completed a Bachelor of Laws through James Cook University, Townsville in 2007 and joined MacDonnells Law last month.  Shannon has a keen interest in Commercial Law and starts her rotation in the Commercial team under the supervision of Partners Steven Titmus and Michael Keir.

Kerry-Lee Crouch, Law Graduate (Brisbane)

Kerry-Lee Crouch joined MacDonnells Law as a Debtors Clerk in July 2006 and then worked as a Law Clerk from May 2007 while she completed a Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Business at Queensland University of Technology.  Now, as a Law Graduate Kerry-Lee has started her rotation in the Litigation team, working under the supervision of Partner Don Macpherson in the areas of debt recovery, family law and personal injuries.  The experience Kerry-Lee gained as a Debtors Clerk and Law Clerk allows her to understand the implications for companies dealing with outstanding debtors and the importance of timely debt recovery.

Miranda Foster, Law Graduate (Cairns)

Miranda Foster completed her Bachelor of Laws (Hons) through James Cook University, Townsville in 2007, joining the firm this year.  Miranda is starting in the Litigation team, working under the supervision of Partner Mark Peters and specialising in the areas of employment law & workplace relations.  While studying, Miranda volunteered at a Community Legal Centre, where she assisted qualified legal practitioners in the provision of free advice to clients.

Melanie Giannikos, Law Graduate  (Townsville)

Melanie Giannikos started with MacDonnells Law this year and is currently working under the supervision of partner Steven Mosch in the Litigation team, specialising in the areas of employment and family law.  Melanie is due to complete her Bachelor of Economics (Honours)/Bachelor of Law (Honours) in June this year through James Cook University. She is currently working on her law thesis, which will examine the effectiveness of the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth) in protecting small businesses after recent legislative amendments.

Kane Jones, Law Graduate  (Brisbane)

Kane joined MacDonnells Law as a Settlement Clerk in October 2007 before being placed in the Graduate Development Program.  Kane works under the supervision of Partner Michael Potts in the Commercial & Corporate, Liquor & Hospitality and Property areas.  Kane’s personal achievements include attaining the rank of Black Belt in Karate where he continues to train.

Annie Kimpton, Law Graduate  (Cairns) 

Annie Kimpton completed a Bachelor of Laws in 2007 through James Cook University, Cairns.  Annie joined MacDonnells Law as a Law Clerk in September last year working with Partner Julie Bosel in the Litigation team and is continuing in this team for her first rotation.

Alicia Pryce, Law Graduate  (Cairns)

Alicia graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from James Cook University, Cairns in 2007.  Alicia has started her rotation in the Commercial team under the supervision of Luckbir Singh who specialises in areas including property, corporations law and revenue law.
